Sketches

I would like to introduce you to Merlin and His Magical Underpants, i really wanted to create something really fun that children could relate too, also i meant i could give him a wizards hat! These are some rough sketches and some ideas.

With all the new free time on my hands and my constant obsession of doodling i began to watch the old series of Robin Hood and with a blank new sketchbook in front of me it clearly influenced what i was drawing here are a couple of sketches from the selection that i created that day.

I started this drawing based on a limerick, but it turned out to be more based upon the hey diddle diddle rhyme and the line 'the cow jumped over the moon' but i still really enjoyed doodling this and i think it worked out for the best.

End of an era

Now that the results are in its official i have completed my course in illustration at the university of Lincoln, it was an amazing experience and i would defiantly recommend the course to anyone. It may be the end of my course but there is still so much to learn and I've been doodling everyday since, I will post some doodles up soon, in the meantime heres how my show looked when it was up a few weeks ago.

FMP- Continued

Some more work on my FMP, the images together give an overall feel of my colour scheme for my collection of illustrations. I am excited to complete one of the tales so that i can see how my illustrations work alongside the text.

Topman T-Shirt Brief "Nature"

Work for the recent Topman T-Shirt Brief. I decided to focus on nature and used the simplistic shape of the tree to influence my designs. My designs have focused on repeated patterns using different autumnal colours on each designs. I have enjoyed experimenting with a new technique and looking at different ways of implementing a repeat pattern into a design.

Final Major Project

I am working on many projects at the moment so i thought i would show you some work in progress of one of my favourites. This work is for my Final Major Project at University. I have chosen to illustrate the Eskimo Folktales. Here are a few illustrations of some of my progress so far. I will be illustrating the tales as bedtime stories for children so I will create many smaller spot illustration with some full page illustrations. The colours of the artwork is much brighter than the images below as these are photographs but i'll upload scans when i have completed a few at a time. I'll keep uploading progress as this project is a longer project than most and runs for until the end of my degree, which is in 8 weeks.

Heart of Darkness

The project was to create a front cover and 3 internal illustrations to go alongside Joseph Conrad's book. I really enjoyed developing the story to work with my style and I decided to focus more on the sailing side as the story is very dark in a lot of places. I really enjoyed designing my first front cover and i can't wait to see how it all turns out, here are some work in progress images and I will upload the finals when I have done the finishing touches.

Below are some of the roughs for the internal pages of the book.
